Skin Resurfacing 101
Skin Resurfacing treatments are the ideal way to treat fine lines, wrinkles, texture and tone. There are two treatments I recommend that will increase collagen (by making micro skin wounds) that make a significant appearance change.
First, and least expensive is Microneedling. The microneedling tool I use has 12 needles that make micropunctures in the skin, which creates new tissue growth. It has the least amount of downtime, and is ideal for skin that is prone to pigmentation issues because there is no heat involved. It can be performed on all skin colors and types, and it is sometimes the preferred treatment over laser as there is zero risk of burning.
Choose Microneedling for:
- Little to no downtime treatments
- Quick, non-invasive treatment
- Excellent scar removal outcomes
Second, is the Fractional Laser Treatment. This procedure costs about double of the Microneedling, and has about a week of moderate downtime (redness, swelling, some flaking). The added benefit of the Fractional Laser is that the heat it generates will also stimulate even more collagen than the Microneedling. However, if your skin is prone to melasma or pigmentation due to heat, the Microneedling will be a better solution for you.
Choose Erbium Laser for:
- More significant treatment of wrinkles and lines
- Greater Skin Tightening benefit due to the heat
